The Victoria and Albert Museum is based in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. It is one of the most renowned museums in London. With 2.27 million artifacts in its permanent collection, it is the world's biggest applied and decorative arts and design museum. It was founded in 1852. London's South Kensington is home to this museum. Together with the adjoining Natural History Museum and Science Museum, it makes up the 'Museum Quarter.'

The museum, which comprises 145 galleries and a total area of 12.5 acres, houses artwork from 5,000 years of human history. The museum contains an impressive collection of glass, pottery, prints, drawings, fashion accessories, furniture, jewelry, musical instruments, and paintings. This museum is a veritable gold mine of artifacts honoring many crafts. It also hosts an impressive roster of passing exhibits, including popular exhibitions on fashion designers and popular culture.

How to explore the Victoria & Albert Museum?

  • The Photography Center and the Cast Courts, where you can see replicas of Michelangelo's David and Trajan's Column, are just a couple of the museum's features.
  • Visit The Raphael Cartoons, which features seven authentic tapestry designs created by the Renaissance maestro for the Sistine Chapel.
  • Numerous tableaux of European art, ceramics (including porcelain and other pottery), furniture, metalwork, jewelry, and textiles from the early medieval era to the present day are on display in the Victoria & Albert Museum.
  • Browse through the Currie collection, which contains exquisite Italian and French weapons and armor, the Schreiber group of English ceramics, enamelwork, glass, the Jones gift of French furniture, porcelain, and other works of art.
  • Another great collection of the museum is the Murray collection's 18th-century German porcelain.
  • Substantial collections of Indian art exist today, which were given a boost when the East India Company's museum's holdings were purchased after it closed in 1858.
  • The impressive Chinese pottery, jade, and sculpture from the Eumorfopoulos collection are among the East Asian works of art.
  • Additionally, the museum is home to the national collection of British watercolors, miniatures, prints, and drawings, including a remarkable collection of John Constable's works.
  • Popular temporary exhibitions at the museum are some of the best in London. Popular exhibitions here have honored Tim Walker, Christian Dior, and Alice in Wonderland. If you are a fashion enthusiast, you will find these exhibits very fascinating.
  • The museum has three stores where exquisitely made objects drawn from its collections and exhibits are sold. During your visit, explore the shelves for books, posters, jewelry, custom-made apparel, and much more to buy.
